About Me
I grew up in the East Bay, immersed in the West Coast sounds of the time. Eventually moved eastward and my tastes expanded across the Atlantic as the next British invasion of New Wave and Punk filtered through airwaves.
I was DJ on my college radio station and had the opportunity to be introduced to countless artists and bands. A few of them broke through. Others were like comets streaking up the charts as one-hit or one-album wonders. Sadly, many experienced nothing more than a few rotations on my station and their music faded into obscurity.
I collect songs. From the vintage to the contemporary. Diving into record bins, hearing one over air in the car or in a store, or catching it a bit during a tv show or movie. For years I struggled to acquire albums and CDs from my favorite bands as record companies went bankrupt as music transitioned online. Thankfully, back catalogues were purchased and digitized. While the warmth and fidelity which only an LP record can produce was lost, I found my old friends and welcomed them back onto my playlists.

Inspired by my favorite album, Wire Train's "Between Two Words," each mixtape includes a two-word thematic title that tries to capture the mood, rhythm, or style of the featured tracks. Included are three songs from different artists. A brief liner note provides additional context as to why these songs were selected. A stanza of noteworthy lyrics from one of the artists is also highlighted.
You won't find a detailed analysis, history or critique of the artists or their songs. There are music critics, historians, and educators better informed and more talented to serve that role. Here are just a few:
I don't want to get in the way of the music. I just want to share the songs I love and hope you enjoy them.
